Overview of NeighborWorks® Classes
Orientation
This 1-hour class is for those seeking to use services offered by NeighborWorks® including information and assistance with:
- Home buying
- Home repair
- Construction over-site
- Credit
- Landlord / Tenant issues
- Post purchase services
An explanation of the organization, classes and services are discussed. Customers complete a financial form which has an authorization for NeighborWorks® to pull a tri-merge credit report.
The credit report fee is paid at that time ($18.95 single / $19.90
joint).
Credit class is scheduled at that time.
Please print and complete our Initial Information Form and bring the completed form with you to class.
Credit Class
In this 2-hour class you learn:
- How to read and understand information contained in a credit report
- What good / bad credit is
- How to repair derogatory credit
- How to negotiate settlements on outstanding accounts
This class is not just for first time home buyers but for anyone who is ready to address credit and potential issues.
Home Buyer Education (HBE)
The HBE class uses the Washington State Housing Finance Commission curriculum providing information on the entire process of home buying. We will discuss the following topics:
- How to secure financing
- How to find a realtor
- How to house shop
- Home inspections
- Down payment and closing cost requirements
A benefit of the class is that it opens the door for down payment and closing costs assistance programs as well as other financing options. Some first time home buying programs require completion of this class.
